Toll - Week One 2012

Bay Bridge 1

I tried doing this last year. If you look at my archives you will note that I did not get very far. I am going to do this again, for myself and with no particular theme. Truly a 52 weeks of whatever. I may write a piece of fiction at times or simply caption the shots. Mainly I just want to consistently upload a shot a week.

This photo was taken on the San Francisco/Oakland Bay Bridge. The clouds looked amazing through the steel of the bridge. I only wish I had captured better angles.

  SF from Berkeley

So much potential here if I hadn't been in a moving car during a heavy commute. Cropped to remove the door frame of the car.

Bay Bridge 3

Not sure how I darkened this. I was trying to zoom on my iPhone and ended up with the screen going dark. I liked the effect.

Bay Bridge 2

Taking a toll

Unbelievable what we will tolerate and become accustomed to. I remember when it didn't cost this much to cross the bridge, not that I can remember when that was.

  1. These are incredible. I love the sky through the bridge. I'm so glad you're doing this again!

  2. Thanks Beth! Trying to be disciplined this year considering all the irons in the fire. I want to make time for things that give me pleasure and this is one of them for sure.

I should note that is the upper deck of the bridge. The lower deck is boring although you can see where they are constructing the new one.

  3. Six dollars?! That is a lot. I thinnjk the last time we accidentally crossed the bridge (like almost ten years ago) it wasn't nearly that much.

But these shots are absolutly beautiful. I love the way you captured the light through the structure of the bridge. It's an interesting contrast between nature and a man-made construction.

  4. Lunar I am pretty sure the Golden Gate is even higher. I think they may even charge both directions. It wouldn't surprise me anyway.

The Carquinez Bridge between Crockett and Vallejo used to be something like 35 or 50 cents. It is up to 5 bucks as well. When you consider the munber of bridges that connect the SF Bay Area, it takes a toll (pun intended!)
